Wishing you and your family a wonderful Christmas from sunny Sydney!!
As with every year, it’s not until the last minute that I realise that I don’t have a single merry photo of Dozer and I to send out to wish everyone Happy Holidays.
And so the annual Christmas-selfie-ritual takes place: I gasp with dismay, and in amongst the whirlwind of last minute Christmas baking, present wrapping and deliveries, I hustle Dozer outside for a “quick” selfie before scurrying off to another Christmas gathering.
I set the camera timer, then dash around into position, grab Dozer in a bear hug and try to smile cheerfully (yet serenely) at the camera as it starts flashing.
And as with every other year, it takes many, many takes to get ONE acceptable photo.
This year was a particularly good effort on Dozer’s part. He bowled me over.
Then tried to sleep on me. 🙄
Oops. Haven’t removed the price tag on the dress… (and it’s over a year old!😂)
Why I can’t get organised to get someone to take a photo for me remains a mystery.
Tell me what you’re doing today!! The RecipeTin Family Christmas took place on the weekend because half the family are overseas today which is actually Christmas Day. I took Dozer to the beach this morning to play with a dozen or so of his Golden Retriever friends, I’m writing this up and now I’m about to head off to spend the day with the family of one of my best friends, my “other” family.
🎄MERRY CHRISTMAS!!🎄 Our jeans might be a bit snugger tomorrow, but that’s ok. Diet starts next year! 😂 – Nagi x

We have travelled to my wife’s home town for a couple of celebrations. We are on to #2 at the moment.
So far it has been:
Getting up early
Driving for 3 hours
Realising an hour in that you forgot the salad bowls
Realising an hour and 30 seconds in that it doesn’t matter because you also forgot the bagged salads (forgive us for being slack and not making from scratch).
Finding that your father-in-law’s oven isn’t quite tall enough to take two medium sized turkeys.
2 emergency spatchcockings.
Getting flatter turkeys in the oven.
Deciding everyone who is going to turn up is here.
Eat one salad less turkey and roast vegetables.
Clean up.
Pack the other turkey and vegetables, still in the roasting tray, in the car carefully.
On to the other part of the family.
The turkey turned out well and the next batch of relatives have vegetables so scurvy is not imminent.
😂 Sounds like you’re making great memories – the best part about Christmas!

We have no family here, so it’s all mama, all the time for food. My boys didn’t want a fussy or fancy Christmas Eve dinner – they insisted on party food. They wanted “your” wings, so that’s what we did + other various dips and things. My youngest thought the wings were so good, he insisted upon leaving one for Santa!! 😂 It’s on the “Cookies for Santa” plate right next to the cookies. Wish there was a way I could post the photo in these comments. It’s hilarious!
