Mojito is arguably the MOST REFRESHING cocktail in the world!! With the fresh mint flavour, a touch of sweet, tang from lime, fizzy soda water andΒ as for the rum? What rum? Canβt taste it at all!!

Mojito
Ahh Mojito. We know youβre a hot weather drink, but we like making you all year round.
In summer, we want something refreshing, and youβre the first that springs to mind.
And in winter, we say we need to make use of all the mint in the flourishing mint bush.Β Really, making one of you doesnβt even make a dent in even a tiny mintΒ plant. We just need any half hearted excuse to make you!!
What does a mojito taste like?
Mojitos tastes like a fizzy mint lime drink thatβs a bit sweet. You canβt taste the rum (which makes it dangerous!!) and itβs incredibly refreshing and extremely easy to drink!
Ingredients in Mojito
10 mint leaves
30 ml / 1 oz lime juice
60 ml / 2 oz white rum
30 ml / 1 oz sugar syrup (equal parts sugar and water)
1/2 cup club soda / soda water
Club soda and soda water are the same thing. Itβs water thatβs been artificially carbonated. Strictly speaking, you should not useΒ sparkling mineral water because it has the flavour of natural minerals in it and itβs not quite as fizzy. But itβs a fine substitute!

Best rum for Mojito
Bacardi is the classic choice and the most well known. Itβs a Puerto Rican white rum so itβs on-theme for Mojito which has Cuban origins!
How to make a VIRGIN Mojito!
Just skip the rum to make a non alcoholic Mojito! White rum adds little flavour to this cocktail so you wonβt miss it β but you still get all the lovely refreshing flavours!
How to make Mojito
Place mint, lime and sugar in glass, bruise mint leaves with muddler or pestle. If you donβt have one, jut crush the mint really well in your hands then drop them in;
Add ice, then rum and soda water, then mix; then
Garnish with lime and more mint!

Mojito Tips!
The key to a great Mojito is bruising the mint leaves using a muddler (or pestle!) in the glass so it releases flavour into the drink. This process of squishing the mint leavesΒ in the glass (depicted above) is calledΒ muddling.Β Itβs a cocktail making terminology and technique.
Some bar tenders like to also muddle lime wedges in the glass. I prefer not to do this for 2 reasons:
Over enthusiastic muddling can cause bitter flavour from the white part of limes into the drink; and
You canβt accurately measure the amount of lime juice released into your mojito. While you can taste and adjustΒ your drink, will your friends mind you having a swig from the pitcher youβre making for them? π
Also, one final tip βΒ use sugar syrup, not sugar granules. Itβs hard (and annoying) to make sugar granules dissolve. Nobody wants grainy sugar crunch in their mojito!

What to serve with Mojito
We love Mojitos for their freshness so they are great served with creamy dips with salty chips! These are my personal favourites to pair with Mojitos:
Homemade French Onion Dip or shortcut French Onion SOUP Mix DipΒ with potato crisps β the minty freshness with the sweet-savoury caramelised onion dip is ππ»;
Cucumber Canapes with Smoked Salmon Mousse β right on theme with the freshness of this drink;
Guacamole and corn chips β very fitting;
For a fresh option, you canβt go past Restaurant Style Salsa β flavour you canβt buy in a jar!
Pig Out Salsa (chorizo, corn and bean salsa) is terrifically on theme too!
Cocktail hour is upon us. Time for a mojito!! πΉπΉΒ β Nagi x

Highly recommend halving the sugar syrup itβs far too sweet with 30ml! Perfect with 15ml though.
Fantastic!
A wonderfully refreshing drink on a summer afternoon.
Many thanks!
Damn Nagi you must like a strong drink! 1.8 standards with 1/2 of mixer was a bit strong for me. Added an extra 1/4 cup of soda water and she came good. Thanks for the recipe!
Hi ! Planning to make this for a bbq and scale up to 20. How do you suggest I prepare it? Place in a serving style jug and then garnish separately after pouring? How far in advance can this be done ? Thanks in advance !
Hi Iβve read that original mojito is made from sugar cane and not white sugar, so you know of a recipe for the original mal version you could share please?
